Taking part in a spiritual retreat is a meaningful way to reconnect with yourself and find peace.

The most important is to find a retreat aligned with your style.

Why most of our participants keep coming back? Because they feel aligned with our purposes, each retreat will take them to a new level of awareness and going deeper with their spiritual unfolding process.

Set your intentions:

What is your purpose, expectations? Are you ready to commit to open your heath to new insights about your life? Are you willing to recover forgotten memories?

All our workshops are designed for you discover blockages and how to reconnect with your own power. We do not promise cure for anybody, Healing is a process and it is entirely individual. Ayahuasca will not make the changes for you, neither will save you. It is important you understand that healing is a proactive behavior.

Our retreats are not recreational, if you choose our retreat is because you are tired of repeating the same patterns of behavior and being unable to stop.

Ayahuasca retreats come in many styles:

Some are led by traditional indigenous shamans, others are less traditional with facilitators trained in shamanism but not indigenous, also there are several religious retreats and other retreats, like our retreats at Spirit Vine Center, are an integration of Western and Modern techniques. With an holistic program with facilitators trained in shamanism and other spiritual practices and healing modalities.

One of the founders and main facilitator at Spirit Vine retreat Center is a psychologist, specialized in trauma and trained in shamanism. Started with psychoanalysis, with a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, training in transactional analyses and transpersonal psychology.

If you are looking for healing and self-exploration focus, look for retreats that combine ceremonies with practices like meditation, workshops, breastwork, and yoga.

Choose a Center You Can Trust

A retreat set in nature, staffed by experts familiar with psychology, shamanism, and trauma care, provides extra support and security. Imagine surrounded by rainforest sounds, swimming in a pond under the shade of the palm trees and watching the birds.

Legality and Quality of the Ayahuasca

Before applying be sure the retreat you choose operates legally. A big percentage of retreats operate underground and without regulations.

Legitimate centers should grow their own ayahuasca plants and follow local laws. This protects you and ensures ceremonies are held responsibly. When the retreat center have their own ayahuasca plants it is more probable the quality of their brew is good.

Understand “Set and Setting”

The mindset you bring and the environment you’re in play a huge role in how the ceremony unfolds.

The set are your intentions, feelings, and readiness. Our retreats are not recreational; you are not coming just to have a good time. You have to be ready to face your own darkness. Respect and openness helps set a positive tone.

Setting is the place, if the retreat center is in the jungle, where participants feels constable with all they need for a safe ceremony and safe stay, with supervision and support. Clear guidelines and caring facilitators help you feel secure and able to let go.

How to Choose an Ayahuasca Spiritual Retreat: A Practical Guide

Rules and Respect:

Everyone’s safety depends on following guidelines. Our retreats are not recreational. Every participant will agree to follow the rules. It is not very common but happened a few times. If a participant is not respecting the agreement and not following the guidelines, this participant cannot continue with the retreat, and will have to leave the center.

Safety and mutual respect during the whole retreat is one of our main purposes.

Supervision:

Ceremonies are fully supervised with personalized doses.

Beginners always start with smaller amounts to slowly increase to reach an optimal tailored dose.

Support After the Ceremony

It’s not always easy to apply new insights alone, so we offer optional group integration sessions after the retreats

Balancing Cost and Value and group size:

To keep things personal and supportive, groups are usually small, no more than 18 people.

At our retreats, accommodation, meals, workshops, and all activities are included. Ayahuasca ceremonies are free.

With the donations, we support the grounds, the team, and create new job opportunities for the community.

Diet:

Meals support the process—mostly organic and vegan with gluten-free and GMO-free choices. Organic eggs are usually available at breakfast.

Application form:

If you want to come for one of our retreats, fill out the application form honestly. Your honesty will help us to determine if you are apt to drink ayahuasca.

Final thoughts:

One of the bigger risks with ayahuasca, is the ego inflation. It is very common that after a few ceremonies, some people begin to feel they have special powers or a higher spiritual status than others, and may start calling themselves shamans.
This type of predatory behavior, very common in healing or religious communities, creates unsafe experiences.
True healing and wisdom require time, training, humility, and real experience.
When the ego gets inflated, it can mislead others and weaken the true purpose of the journey.
